The 2-Axis Leaf Spring Test Machine was built to aid in the development of springs for Light and Medium Duty trucks. Oneiric Systems, Inc. designed and developed this machine from the ground up to provide a link to traditional test methods, yet provide flexibility to introduce new test methods. The objective was to introduce new test methods which better correlate to field failures. Traditional test methods introduce vertical loads into the spring with the ends constrained on individual rolling carriages. The 2-Axis machine provides the ability to constrain the carriages such that the spring shackle is used as a part of the test. With the addition of the windup channel, the result is a test system which provides a better mechanism for characterizing the spring and to get better correlation to field failures.
